Wayne Gooden was raised by Oscar and Lizabeth Gooden of Dallas, Texas.
O.C.(Fats)Gooden was horseshoer by trade, shoeing horses in shop on Canton
St. in downtown Dallas in the early 1900's. Wayne traveled with O.C. most
of his childhood. Wayne has been around horses all of his life and brings
a careful eye to a horses feet and legs in their daily care.
The Goodens started raising paint and quarter horses in 1994. Going to
horse sales and buying great quality brood mares ... first as a hobby
... then it just grew to wanting to learn more and more and finally branching
into a business venture.
At the death of their homozygous stallion in 2002, the Goodens started
taking in boarders. First just a couple ... then word spread of our care
of injured and older horses until their barn was full. They had to sell
off their brood mare herd and babies in order to accomodate their new
enterprise.
The Gooden's became known for their ability to help horse owners with
nutritional problems with their horses. Their willingness to feed different
formulas to a variety of horses became a hit with their customers ...
couple that with an ability to help horse owners with a way to care for
multiple horses on a budget ... their barn turnover was less than 10%
a year.
